“Kapil Dev And…”: Sunil Gavaskar Picks 3 Legends Who Would Have Excelled In IPL

Legendary Indian batsman Sunil Gavaskar revealed three legends of his era who he believes would have been hugely successful in the Indian Premier League (IPL). In a recent conversation, Gavaskar was asked to pick players from his team who are fit for the IPL and picked World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev as his pick for the all-rounder. As a batsman, he chose Sandeep Patil and his choice for bowler was BS Chandrasekhar, whom he believed would help him in white-ball cricket.

“Look, one batsman I would like to see would be Sandeep Patil, there is only one allrounder I would pick – Kapil Dev, for the bowler, I would like to see BS Chandrasekhar play in T20 format because of his bowling action Gavaskar on Star Sports Not only was he suited for Test cricket, but one-day cricket and T20 cricket would also come in handy for him, said during a Q&A session.

Gavaskar also picked the IPL franchise he would like to be a part of if given a chance. While Mumbai Indians were his first choice, the veteran said that he would like to play under the captaincy of MS Dhoni.

“Mumbai Indians, who else? If not, I would like to play for Chennai Super Kings. There are two reasons for Chennai Super Kings, first, the owners of Chennai are crazy about cricket, they have done a lot for this game. Srinivasan sir has done a lot for cricket. And another big reason would be to sit in the dressing room with MS Dhoni and see how he captains the team. Is he as calm and composed in the dressing room as he is on the field? Does he lose his temper when someone has dropped a catch or has no backup fielder? That’s what I want to know.’
