Suryakumar Yadav Continues To Lead ICC T20 Rankings

Swashbuckling Indian batsman Suryakumar Yadav continues to top the latest ICC men’s T20I batsmen rankings released on Wednesday. Suryakumar, who has scored lean runs of late, remained stable in the ICC list with 906 rating points, and is 100 points ahead of second-ranked Mohammad Rizwan (798) of Pakistan. Suryakumar, who is the only Indian batsman in the top 10, enjoyed a stellar year in the format in 2022. He continued his good form in the series against New Zealand and Sri Lanka earlier this year.

Former skipper Virat Kohli is the next best Indian batsman in the list as he remained steady at 15.

Among bowlers, left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh is the top Indian at 14th while veteran fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar is down a rung at 19th.

In the list of all-rounders, Hardik Pandya is second only to leader Shakib Al Hasan.

Ten wickets in three T20Is have helped Haris Rauf overtake Shadab Khan to become the top-ranked Pakistan bowler.

Rauf took four consecutive wickets in the ongoing T20I series against New Zealand and won the player of the match award in the first match.

The Pakistan pacer was last week ahead of Shaheen Afridi and behind Shadab Khan, who was ranked 12th in the T20I bowling rankings. After taking 10 wickets in the first three T20 matches, Rauf has moved up five places to reach 11th position in the rankings.

Meanwhile, Ish Sodhi (620) and Shaheen (624) have also moved up four places and two places respectively, while others around them have dropped points.

The other big change in the rankings came from Sri Lanka as Prabhat Jayasuriya continued his magical start in red-ball cricket.

The left-arm spinner took a ten-wicket haul in the first Test against Ireland, his second such figure in a very short Test career of six matches.

Jayasuriya already has 43 five-wicket hauls in six Tests. A career-best seven wicket haul in the Galle Test against Ireland saw him move up 13 places to enter the top 20 of the ICC Test bowling rankings.

Achieving a career-best 669 rating, Jayasuriya also became the top-ranked Sri Lankan bowler in Test cricket. Ramesh Mendis (576), who moved up three places after taking four wickets in the second innings of the Test against Ireland, has been placed at number 32.
